Appointed as a Director in 1992, Rod is responsible for the company’s Integrated Logistic Support tasks and the day-to-day running of the company.
Rod started his career in 1974 as a technical documentation developer in Germany where he worked on MTU, Mercedes-Benz, Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW), Messerschmitt-Bolkow-Blohm (MBB) and BMW Projects. He moved to Australia in 1978 and in 1982 became the ILS Manager and Director of McLaren Publications working on the Seahawk and Black Hawk projects for Hawker de Havilland and later, after she was commissioned in 1984, HMAS Success.
Rod trained in the UK qualifying with a City and Guilds Level 3 in mechanical engineering and attained a Licentiateship with the Society of Industrial Artists and Designers.
Appointed as a Director of SOFRACO in 2004, David is responsible for the broad business strategy and overall management of a team of dedicated engineers and service staff across Australia.
David started his career as a Marine Engineer in the Australian Merchant Navy and sailed on a broad variety of ships before returning to study Naval Architecture.
As a Naval Architect and Marine Engineer, David has designed a wide variety of littoral and ocean-going vessels measuring from 6m to 150m in length that operate throughout Australian and international waters. In 1998 David joined SOFRACO as a marine systems engineer supporting work on HMAS Kanimbla and HMAS Manoora and, with David’s guidance, the company added operational maintenance and commissioning to its list of services.
David holds a degree in Marine Engineering with post-graduate qualifications in Naval Architecture. He is also recognised as a Design Authority for the Department of Defence and as a Marine Surveyor for domestic commercial vessels by the Australian Maritme Safety Authority.
David is a busy father of three. In his spare time David is a keen surfer and football player and has a strong interest in international cultures and cuisines.
As Technical Director, Charlie leads the SOFRACO engineering effort, being responsible for operations, project management and product development.
In addition, Charlie has overseen the expansion of field services, maintenance and production capabilities at SOFRACO.
Charlie holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Sydney.
Outside of work, Charlie enjoys outdoor activities including fishing, golfing and tennis.
